Im not really a gamer, but I have to say this thing is addicting, and the fact that my wife actually like playing (she hates videogames) make not playing even harder. We play every night before bed and every morning before work.
It seems that everyone who comes over and picks up a controller is hooked. Nintendo is really on to something here, and Wii sports that comes with the console is actually pretty sweet. Its got tones of features and is so easy to use everyone wants to play.
With its instant popularity my wife and I are considering starting a Wii Sports league, lol. Don't worry there is a whole schwack of amazing web 2.0 sites that I will be writing about in the coming days.
Colonel Sanders, wasn't the only thing that got re:designed ; the KFC.com website is looking pretty snazzy itself. The company said the new restaurants in the U.S. will include warmer interior colors, open shop-style glass windows and a digital jukebox that plays customer-selected music for free.
KFC feels the changes to its marketing strategy will help to keep the brand "Relevant" to consumers. In there effort to stay relevant they even staged a marketing campaign sporting a very obviously faked aerial photograph hiding a secret message.
In an effort to continuously bombard us with the same old thing the hidden message reads "Finger Lickn Good" if you go to www.kfc.com you can type it in and receive a free chicken sandwich. The funny thing is in there effort to make Colonel Sanders seem like just a regular dude, the giant KFC logo in the ariel photograph was said to be found in the Area 51 Desert.
Leading consumers to believe something out of this world put it there. DEspite is obvious flaws KFC's new logo and ad campaign must be effective. Im blogging it and, do you smell chicken?
You can get the offical release of Firefox 2 now at : www.getfirefox.com
I noticed tow things about Firefox 2.0 since I first blogged about this...
- Google's
spell check is still better. I typed a word I knew was totally spelt
wrong, and Firefox could not detect as spelt wrong because it wasn't
close enough to a word in the spell check dictionary. The second I
typed it in the Google search box it suggested the correct word. I know
that PHP has a function for searching for things based on what they
would sound like if you were to pronounce the phonetically. I imagine
Google is using something very similar, and I am wondering why this
kind of technology is yet to be implemented in desktop applications.
- I also noticed that extensions is now officially called "Add-ons" just like IE7. Although, I am glad Mozilla didn't try to implement a pay for Add-Ons model like Microsoft did.
Hot on the heals of Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2.0 is scheduled for release tomorrow, (Tuesday) but thanks to the cyber sleuths at Ars Technica you can download it today. I updated both my PC and my Mac and the process seems to run quite smoothly. It even detects the extensions you were using in Firefox 1.5 and downloads and installs the new 2.0 edition (if available) for you, witch is nice if your a design geek like me and have a thousand extensions.
I haven't had much time to play around with the new version but the the first thing I noticed was the built in spell checker. If you are dyslexic like me, and on a good day can hardly spell your own name, you will agree this is much needed feature.
I know safari and other browsers have this feature but it's nice to see a good spell checker built into a browser I use daily. Since I haven't had much luck with the spell checkers build into web pages such as Vox and Gmail. If sure I will have a ton of other things to report on this new version of Firefox once I have a chance to play around with it a bit more.
