Im not really a gamer, but I have to say this thing is addicting, and the fact that my wife actually like playing (she hates videogames) make not playing even harder. We play every night before bed and every morning before work.
It seems that everyone who comes over and picks up a controller is hooked. Nintendo is really on to something here, and Wii sports that comes with the console is actually pretty sweet. Its got tones of features and is so easy to use everyone wants to play.
With its instant popularity my wife and I are considering starting a Wii Sports league, lol. Don't worry there is a whole schwack of amazing web 2.0 sites that I will be writing about in the coming days.
I recorded my first podcast (using the Talkshoe network) and, I think I totally bombed. There was many time I fumbled words and lost my train of thought; resulting in dead airspace. I don't know what is with me today, I have never had a problem with public speaking.
Oh well my show 3.0 Ideas, is supposed to be a think tank for crazy ideas that just might work, and explore revolutionary concepts could change the internet as we know it. I really want to extend it to taking things we have learned form the web and applying them to older media such as tv, and print.
If you would like to listen to me crash and burn you can do so via iTunes aor direct download by vising my showes talkshoe profile page.
So, where does this leave my show, and my future in respect to podcasting? Well, although I crashed and burned. I am not one to give up easily. I am currently searching for a co-host, and entertaining different show ideas.
Let me know what you think of it.....
What is Riya?
Riya is a technology being developed, that will allow you to index, auto tag, and ultimately search photographs.
How does Riya work?
In a nut shell you upload some photos of yourself into the Riya database, as your photo is uploading it scans the photo and learns about its characteristics. The system can detect objects like a persons face, company logos, and possibly evan architecture. Riya then asks you to identify what each object is. Riya is a learning technology and the more it learns the more accurate it will become, so if you upload 50 photos of yourself it has a better chance of correctly identifying your face then if you submit only one.
So whats the big deal?
I see Riya as a company that has the potential to make a lot of money providing its service to content providers. Bedsides the obvious things like flickr integration so it can auto tag your photos, and link you profile to photos other people have submitted of you. I can see endless applications for this technology.
Case iStockPhoto.com
- Identify duplicate images.
- Compare submitted images against other stock photography sites such as Getty, and corporate advertising for copyright violations.
- Auto suggest photo tags; model names, situations, locations, ect.
- You could possibly program Riya to recognize a persons mood based on facial expression and possibility for search enhancement are endless.
This technology could be Google's saving grace after there recent acquisition and imminent lawsuits over copyrighted material on youTube. Who knows what they will choose to do with Ryia, but they are certainly a technology to watch.
